I drive a 2004 mazda 3s with a few mods (cai, custom exhaust, tein coilovers, eibach swaybars f/r, mazdaspeed strut bar, mazdaspeed rear camber links) the 3 definitely handles much better and loves to be thrown into corners, but im not saying that the proteges handling is is still a great handling car.any mazda likes to turn. the proteges engine is a little more sluggish (im not sure if it has v-spec). the 2.3 liter engine with v-spec in the mazda 3 is a rather sporty, economical, and solid engine. All of the premium features expected of a Mazda are offer. It features a front-wheel-drive platform, an automatic transmission, and a 2 liter 4 cylinder engine. the styling is just complete top notch, the shifter and clutch in the 3 are much sportier (semi-short shift / semi-sport clutch) as compared to the protege's standard econo-car setup. 928 below average station wagon 204,314 gasoline automatic. MSP rear subframe and rear sway bar (the subframe is not needed to mount the RSB but the mounting points are a bit different from the P5 which is why most owners who upgrade to the RSB complain of the clunk)ġ5.Having driven both hatch models, and the sedan style 3 as well, id have to give the upper hand to the mazda 3. Sedan headlights (will require some re-wiring as they are single bulb vs. MSP lip (very hard to find these days)ġ2. MSP bumper (direct bolt-on and gets rid of the amber bumper markers)ġ1. Tribute/Escape/MPV wiper stalk (variable intermittent wipers!!!! - off the top of my head I don't remember exact years but IIRC 2004 and up should work)ġ0. Tribute washer nozzles (provide a nice mist over the stock nozzles, even better it's a cheap and easy upgrade)ĩ. Mazda6 wagon rear wiper (I have this too and love it, looks better than stock and functions better too - can find the kit of everything you need at 8. Sub frame is same basic shape as the protege, only with a pumpkin in the center and could be modified to literally bolt in. However, I cant use it with Protege 5.1.0 and swrltab-plugin-1.1.4 (see screenshot and attached ontologies). Just have to watch offsets and width as some will require spacers and or fender rolling.Ģ.
